The most shocking thing happened the other day…

A woman came up to me and asked me to communicate with her husky because he had suddenly stopped eating. It had been a week now and he was rapidly losing weight. She had taken him for multiple checkups at the vet, and all his results came back normal.

I connected to him, and asked him what the problem was. Why had he suddenly stopped eating? (He was even refusing Popsicle Sticks – which were his favorite treat)

His answer surprised me!

He said, “It has been over a month now that mum has been trying to lose weight. She is going about it in an unhealthy manner and it’s hurting her body. She has been starving herself. Her doctors, and family members have told her to eat a balanced meal, but she refuses to listen to anyone. All she eats is an apple or a bowl of oatmeal per day. I figured, since she loves me so much, if I act the same way she does, then MAYBE she will understand what everyone is trying to tell her and will start eating well. When she sees that I’m suffering as well, then it will dawn onto her, that she needs to eat to survive, and cannot waste away the way she’s doing right now.”

Similarly, there was a cat that was dealing with severe skin issues. No one knew what the problem was. When I spoke to her, she said, “If mum gets herself checked, and stops delaying her doctors appointment, then she will know what she suffers from. She needs to get checked. Tell her it’s urgent. I’m taking in alot for her in order to help her. My entire body is inflamed from the inside. My inflammation is showing on my skin. That’s why I itch so much.”

I’ve witnessed time and again how you and your companion influence each others behavior. I noticed that over time the mirroring of personalities became increasingly conspicuous.

We’re often amused when animals and their owners seem to look alike. However, the truth of the matter is – they resemble their owners in an entirely different way: their personalities actually tend to be similar.

Your animal friend (I use the word animal because your pet may be a reptile as well) might be more of a copycat than you thought. After I experienced a communication such as the one above, I was curious to see whether this phenomenon was backed up by science. Indeed it was. Numerous studies showed that certain traits that appeared more dominant in owners were also observed in their pets. For instance, owners who rated higher in the neuroticism category had pets who demonstrated behavioral problems, while owners who rated themselves more extroverted had pets who also enjoyed being outside more. A highly agreeable person is twice as likely to have a dog who is highly active and excitable—and less aggressive—than someone who is less agreeable. Similarly, Animals that were anxious or aggressive had owners that possessed more negative personality traits.

Take a good hard look at your animal friend and you’ll see what I mean.

Have you ever noticed that sometimes your animal companions take on your own imbalances?

Animals mirror us and are a window to our souls. Your animal companions have a way of absorbing all your imbalances and can drastically improve your condition in life.

They can carry out our pain, suffering, illness and stress. Not many humans understand this exceptional phenomenon, however it is vital that you understand it. Once you do, it will forever alter your experience with animals and help you in building a stronger bond and connection with them.

Animals are emotionally complex. They have all of the emotions we label as human. They fall in love and have best friends. They have the ability to feel happiness, love, anger, frustration, rage, insecurity, annoyance, confusion, wonder, and a multitude of other emotions too. What I’ve found in most of my communications is their amazing capacity for forgiveness. This is one of the many vital lessons that animals yearn for us to learn and incorporate into our daily lives. We are masters at the emotion of guilt. We excel at it and get locked into that disastrous emotion without realizing all the havoc it causes in our daily lives. Animals do not feel guilt as strongly as we do because they know of its consequences and realize that it has no benefit long term. Many of them ask, “wouldn’t it be amazing if you directed all your energies in excelling at forgiveness instead of guilt?”

Why do some choose to discount these findings?

The reasons for this are ironically related back to the convenient denial of our own emotions.

Discounting the complexity of animal emotions has been the justification of many acts of cruelty towards animals, therefore perhaps refusing to accept these scientific discoveries has more to do with avoiding coming to terms with the wrongfulness of our treatment of animals, than celebrating the advancement of our connection with the animal world.

So often when you start talking about kindness to animals someone comments that starving and mistreated children should come first. The issue can’t be divided like that. It isn’t a choice between children and animals. It’s our duty to care for both. Kindness is the important thing. Kids and animals are our responsibility!

We must strive to be kind to every soul alike!

Animals are the barometers of our soul and it is time we treated them with the respect they truly deserve!
